Five people were arrested in Canada’s Ontario after they stormed into a gas station with their faces uncovered and took coffee machines, an oven, a microwave, and a couple of things. The crime has now created a ripple in Canadian social media as all of them were arrested at the site as they were there when the cops came — and all of them share the same surname ‘Patel’. The gas station is located in a small Ontario community. INsauga reported that the arrested were 33-year-old Devangkumar Patel, 45-year-old Yogeshkumar Patel, 38-year-old Bhavinkumar Patel, 38-year-old Mitulkumar Patel, and 29-year-old Ricky Patel. They have been charged with robbery and mischief under $5,000. Police could not confirm the relationship among the five men who were released from custody and now have a court date on February 26.An employee of the store who recently joined the gas station said he was alone when the five men barged into the store. They tried to threaten him and told him to step back as they took some things from the store. “They were just saying (to each other) to pick up the things and take them,” he said. “They were quick – less than five minutes.”After the robbers left, the staff called the store owner who contacted the police. When cops arrived, they were still at the premises. “I definitely wouldn’t say this is a common occurrence,” Hare said. “That was a significant number (of people arrested). That was definitely alarming,” OPP (Ontario Provincial Police) spokesperson Const. Jeff Hare told The Free Press.
