Tanker carrying Iranian oil may reach India Saturday

NEW DELHI: A foreign vessel carrying Iranian oil is likely to reach India on April 4, marking the first such shipment since May 2019, when India stopped imports from the country in the wake of US sanctions.MarineTraffic data showed that the Eswatini-flagged tanker, Ping Shun, was heading to the Vadinar facility of Deendayal Port at Kandla. A govt official said the port had not received any intimation about its arrival till late on Tuesday.According to Sumit Ritolia, lead analyst at global analytics firm Kpler, Ping Shun is en route to Vadinar with nearly 6 lakh barrels of crude.Officials said 18 Indian vessels are in the Persian Gulf, four in the Gulf of Oman and two in the Gulf of Aden. TOI has learned that three Indian-flagged LPG vessels are drifting northeast of Abu Musa Island, awaiting instructions for transit through the Strait of Hormuz.
