Canadian-Indian accountant Nidhi Nagori says US, EU were built by immigrants: ‘Without us, you will…’

Indo-Canadian accountant Nidhi Nagori speaks on 'anti-India' hate, says US, EU were built by immigrants: ‘Without us, you will have no…’

Canadian-Indian chartered accountant and career coach Nidhi Nagori said that immigrants founded, developed, and made work easier for nations such as the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and much of Europe. She called these countries ‘coloniser states’ In the video shared on her YouTube channel, Nagori responded to online hate and racism against Indians and immigrants. She urged viewers to look back into history before blaming migration and saying the economy of first-world countries that are booming today could not be possible without immigrants. Nagori said: “If you live in a colonial settler country and you’re not Indigenous, immigration is what got your ancestors and you here.”Nagori said modern immigration systems, such as H1-B visas, only exist to fill labour gaps and skill gaps, arguing that immigrants often take up jobs that locals either do not want or lack qualifications for.She said: “Without us, you will have no one to do your manufacturing, sweep your floors, run your research, build global tech giants, or even treat you in hospitals.”Nidhi cited data from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada. She explained that 37 per cent of scientific researchers and developers in Canada are foreign-born, with immigrants playing key roles across STEM, manufacturing, healthcare, and service sectors. She rejected claims that immigrants are an economic burden and that they expand local economies without being a burden on other taxpayers. The MAGA base in US still claims that immigrants steal to American jobs and replace them for much lower salaries. The video comes amid heightened tensions around immigration in Canada. Nidhi said in the video that hate crimes against South Asians rose by 227 per cent between 2019 and 2023, a statistic that was fueled by growing xenophobia. Housing shortages and job competition also played a part. Nagori said that immigrants are being unfairly blamed for systemic failures caused by capitalistic aspects of corporate profiteering, climate change, poor urban planning, and government policy failures, including tax structures and bureaucratic red tape. “The people in power don’t want to work for you, so they make you work against us,” she said, addressing the rich and poor divide.

Who is Nidhi Nagori?

Nagori is an Indian-born chartered accountant and US CPA, and is the founder and CEO of Globalogy, a Toronto-based career coaching and immigration education platform. She has previously worked in finance roles at multinational firms and regularly creates content on global careers and migration pathways. She also runs a YouTube channel with over 320,000 subscribers. She commented on her own video and pinned a comment: “I’m a proud Indian. I’m a proud Canadian. The goal of this video is to educate, not fight back.”

Sikh population in Canada

Moreover, a large number of Sikhs live in Canada. According to the 2021 Census, over 770,000 people identified as Sikh. Canada has the second-largest Sikh population in the world after India, with more Sikhs than England and Australia combined. Sikhs make up about 2.1 per cent of Canada’s total population, mainly due to long history of migration, strong community networks, and immigration-friendly policies. Go to Source
