Dhankhar seeks ‘suitable’ house in Delhi, may get Lutyens’ address

New Delhi: Former VP Jagdeep Dhankhar has sought a govt accommodation in Delhi, which he is entitled to, as per norms, reports Dipak Dash. Dhankhar had put in request for a “suitable” accommodation when he was about to vacate the VP Enclave early this month, sources said.TOI has learnt that though the housing and urban affairs ministry has not allotted any bungalow yet for the ex-VP, a decision on this will be taken soon. Sources said govt may zero down on the Type-VIII bungalow on 34, APJ Abdul Kalam Road in Lutyens’ Delhi, which was earlier given to a former Cabinet minister. As per Rules, a former VP is entitled to a type-VIII govt bungalow at a place of his choice anywhere in India. They added the bungalow is being vacated after govt allotted a Type-VII accommodation to the former minister. The process of allotting an official retirement home to Dhankhar would take some time and CPWD will also need to time for repair and renovation work.
