Yograj Singh shares his take on parental roles

Yograj Singh believes a man who can’t write his child’s story ‘doesn’t deserve to be called a father’

Veteran actor and former cricketer Yograj Singh, the father of Yuvraj Singh, never minces words. However, in a recent media interaction, he did revisit an old remark, where he said that if the command of a household is given to a woman, it would lead to chaos. He explained the context and meaning of his words and elaborated on gender roles

Yogran Singh speaks on gender and parental roles

During an interaction with Highbrow Studios, Yograj Singh first emphasized that he respects women and has always given them high status. However, he stood strong on his point that men and women have different roles in a household and society. He explained his point by speaking about childbirth, where he said that in a mother’s womb, it is the Almighty who takes care of the child, and once the baby is born, a mother’s hug comforts him. “When a child is in the mother’s womb, God takes care of him or her. What does the mother know about what is going on inside? The mother is not a mechanic going inside and working; it is God who is working…The child only stops crying after the mother hugs him. That’s a mother’s power. Then a father picks him up,” he said while drawing the difference between a mother’s and a father’s role.Further, elaborating on the responsibilities of a father, he said, “A father who can’t write his child’s story doesn’t deserve to be called a father.” He added, “A man who can’t take care of his wife doesn’t deserve to be a husband.” He again emphasized his earlier statement that a woman can take care of the house, but the head of the house is a man, and he needs to work accordingly, and then nothing would go wrong.

Yograj Singh said his parents had a 42-year age gap

He shared his family history and mentioned his mother and father had an age gap of 42 years, and they were the most in-love couple he ever met. “My father was 60, my mom was 19 when they got married. I never saw the kind of love I saw between them anywhere else. They lived for each other and died for each other,” he reflected.Yograj Singh even shared that in his household, things to date work according to his way. “I am the head of my family — my way, my rules, my regulations,” he quoted.
