Madhu Malhotra, the veteran actress who had worked in movies like ‘Satte Pe Satta’, ‘Hero’, and more, passed away on March 13. She was 71. The cause of her death has not been disclosed yet. As per the reports, her funeral took place at the Oshiwara Crematorium in Mumbai on March 14.

Who was Madhu Malhotra?

Madhu Malhotra has featured in several movies during the 1980s and the 1990s. She was a known face in the Hindi cinema of that era. Malhotra marked her debut with Ramsay Brother’s movie ‘Andhera’ in 1975. She started doing mainstream cinema after featuring in Shakti Samanta’s film ‘The Great Gambler’ in 1979. In the movie, she played the sister of Amitabh Bachchan’s character, Jay. The actress was popular for appearing in the movie ‘Hero’, starring Jackie Shroff. The movie was directed by Subhash Ghai and gave the audience hit tracks like ‘Tu Mera Jaanu Hai’, ‘Pyar Karne Wale Kabhi Darte Nahi’, and ‘Ding Dong Baby Sing A Song’. Madhu Malhotra featured in another hit and emotional song from the movie, ‘Lambi Judaai’, crooned by Reshma. This track became one of Madhu Malhotra’s most memorable onscreen appearances. The actress also played a key role in ‘Satte Pe Satta’, starring Amitabh Bachchan in the lead. In the movie, Madhu Malhotra was seen as the ladylove of the character Budh, played by Paintlal. She was also featured in the song ‘Mausam Mastana’ from the film.The star cast of the 1982 movie included Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini, Ranjeeta Kaur, and Amjad Khan, along with actors such as Sachin Pilgaonkar, Shakti Kapoor, and Kanwaljit Singh. As per the reports, Malhotra has starred in over 100 movies in her entire career. The actress collaborated with directors like Subhash Ghai and Anil Sharma. She featured in films like ‘Shradhanjali’ (1981), ‘Vishwanath’ (1978), ‘Karz’ (1980), and ‘Vidhaata’ (1982). The actress also worked in horror dramas in her career. She did ‘Khooni Murda’ (1989) and ‘Roohani Taqat’ (1991).
