Ravi Kishan gets interim relief as Delhi High Court restrains use of AI, deepfakes and generative tech in personality rights suit

Actor and politician Ravi Kishan has received interim relief from the Delhi High Court. The court passed an interim order protecting his personality rights, restraining several individuals, websites and online platforms from using Ravi Kishan’s name, image, likeness and other personality attributes without his permission.

Court orders removal of objectionable content

As per a report by ANI, the court order also covers the use of Artificial Intelligence, Generative AI, Machine Learning and deepfake technology.Talking about the case details, it was heard by Justice Jyoti Singh after Ravi Kishan filed a suit seeking protection from the alleged misuse of his identity across social media and online platforms.The court also directed the removal of URLs that allegedly carried obscene, pornographic and AI-generated content using Ravi Kishan’s identity. The defendants and the concerned domain registrars have been asked to remove the listed URLs within three days of receiving the order.The court further said that if they fail to do so, platforms like Meta, Google and X must begin removing the concerned URLs within 72 hours after being informed.

According to the case filed by Ravi Kishan, several websites and social media accounts allegedly uploaded objectionable reels, fake statements, AI-generated videos and sexually explicit content using his name and image without permission. He also claimed that some websites used his name in keywords and URLs to host pornographic content.The High Court has issued summons in the matter. The defendants have been directed to file their written statements within 30 days.The matter will next come up before the Joint Registrar on August 13, 2026, while the interim injunction application is scheduled to be heard by the court on October 16, 2026.On the acting front, he was recently seen in the legal comedy series ‘Maamla Legal Hai’.Disclaimer: The information in this report is based on a legal hearing as reported by a third-party source.
