Bollywood’s beloved star Govinda, known for his unmatched dance moves and expressive screen presence, earlier shared a heartfelt memory that has stayed with him throughout his career.Appearing on Madhuri Dixit’s dance reality show ‘Dance Deewane’ back in 2019, the actor opened up about the struggles of his early days and the unwavering love that fuelled his journey into cinema.“Dance has always been my first love. It brings a different energy in me,” Govinda recalled on the show, visibly nostalgic.
A grueling 19-kilometre walk for passion
Long before he became a household name, Govinda’s path to dance classes was far from easy. He revealed that as a child, he would walk 19 kilometers a day to attend lessons because he couldn’t afford transport. Despite the exhaustion, he never let go of his dream.“I didn’t have enough money back then to travel by a private vehicle, but my love for dance kept me going,” he said. That dedication not only defined his character but also won him the affection of his mentor.
Saroj Khan’s generosity and guidance
Govinda credited legendary choreographer Saroj Khan, his Guru, for recognizing his commitment. Deeply moved by the young boy’s determination, Saroj Khan waived her fees entirely. “Seeing this deep affection, Saroj Khan, my Guru, didn’t charge me a single penny,” Govinda shared, his gratitude evident even years later. Her guidance and faith became the foundation for his growth, shaping him into one of Bollywood’s most vibrant dancers.
Govinda’s work front
On the work front, Govinda was last seen in ‘Rangeela Raja’, directed by Sikander Bharti and co-starring Mishikka Chaurasia and Karan Aanand. The movie unfortunately received mixed reviews from the audiences.
