‘War 2’ crosses Rs 225 crore mark on Day 13

'War 2' box office collection Day 13: Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR and Kiara Advani starrer crosses Rs 225 crore mark

After a strong start, ‘War 2’ has shown signs of slowing at the box office. On its thirteenth day, the high-octane action thriller earned an estimated Rs 2.75 crore net across all languages, according to early reports. The figure marks a minor improvement over its second Monday, when collections had dipped to Rs 2.25 crore. The fresh numbers now push the sequel past the Rs 225 crore milestone in India.

First week vs Second week

The Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR-led spectacle stormed into theatres with a Week 1 total of Rs 175.75 crore net, firmly establishing itself as one of the biggest openers of the year. But that early momentum has proved difficult to sustain. In its second week so far, the film has managed only around Rs 20 crore, reflecting a steep drop of Rs 155 crore compared to its opening week. While such declines are expected post-festival weekends, the magnitude of this dip has cast doubts over the film’s ability to hold through its extended run.

Domestic and global totals

With Tuesday’s earnings factored in, War 2 has reached a Rs 227.26 crore India net total and an estimated Rs 268.25 crore all-India gross. Overseas markets, especially North America and the Middle East, have contributed Rs 75.5 crore, helping the global gross touch approximately Rs 343.75 crore. Despite the strong worldwide tally, the film is still pacing cautiously given its reported Rs 400 crore budget.

Regional contribution

The film’s regional performance shows a clear tilt towards the Hindi-speaking belt. By Day 13, the Hindi version accounted for Rs 170.25 crore, while the Telugu version, bolstered by Jr NTR’s immense following, delivered Rs 55.06 crore. The Tamil dubbed version, however, added just Rs 1.95 crore.

Competition from Coolie

Rajinikanth’s Coolie continues to keep the pressure on. The Tamil superstar’s latest outing not only took an early lead but has also maintained it, closing its first week at Rs 229.65 crore net, slightly ahead of War 2. Its second-week earnings of Rs 22.86 crore remain almost on par with War 2, making the box office race particularly competitive.

Hrithik’s career milestone

Even as War 2 struggles to match the towering expectations of YRF’s Spy Universe, it has strengthened Hrithik Roshan’s box office standing. With Rs 170.25 crore net in Hindi, the film is on the verge of surpassing Bang Bang! (Rs 174.51 crore) to become the actor’s fourth-highest grosser. If trends hold, it could eventually position itself just behind Fighter (Rs 212.79 crore), Krrish 3 (Rs 231.79 crore), and the original War (Rs 303.34 crore).

Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations

With the Ganesh Chaturthi holiday driving footfalls in several regions, the coming days will reveal whether ‘War 2’ can regain some momentum. If the festival provides a boost, the film would effectively benefit from two extended weekends. However, so far, the numbers suggest the holiday advantage may not be enough to offset its declining trend. Go to Source
