The Taj Story BO day 4: Paresh Rawal film earns Rs 6.90 crore

The Taj Story box office collection day 4: The Paresh Rawal starrer sees a dip, earns Rs 6.90 crore

Paresh Rawal’s ‘The Taj Story’ garnered Rs 6.90 crore domestically after a promising start, facing a dip on its fourth day. The film navigated pre-release controversy with two PILs questioning historical accuracy, which actor Rawal addressed, emphasizing research. Critics noted its attempt to present an alternative narrative but found the second half repetitive.

After showing a promising start, Paresh Rawal starrer The Taj Story saw a dip in its domestic box office collection on its fourth day. The film has crossed Rs 6 crore mark.

Box office performance

According to early estimates on Sacnilk, the film earned Rs 1.15 crore on its first Monday, taking the overall collection to Rs 6.90 crore. The Taj Story had an overall 12.57 percent Hindi occupancy on Monday, November 03, 2025.

Controversy before release

Just before its release, ‘The Taj Story’ got caught in controversy as two Public Interest Litigations (PILs) were filed, seeking a ban on the film and a review of its certification. The petitions alleged that the film distorted historical facts about the Taj Mahal. Paresh Rawal spoke about the issue and clarified that the film was based on research and not meant to create division.Reacting to the PIL, Paresh Rawal told NDTV, “That PIL wasn’t filed to stop the film. They just wanted the judiciary to watch it once. But the film already has a CBFC certificate. Even the judiciary understands all this; they’re not foolish. We never intended to create any Hindu-Muslim controversy. Would anyone invest so much money just to create communal trouble? You can cause a riot for far less!”

ETimes review

The Times of India rated ‘The Taj Story’ 2.5 out of 5 stars. The review stated, “It attempts to unravel what it calls the ‘real’ history of the Taj Mahal, suggesting through dramatized research and testimonies that the monument was once a palace owned by King Jai Singh and later acquired by Emperor Shah Jahan. The film uses its narrative to project this interpretation with conviction. The first half holds attention as Vishnu Das, the protagonist, fights to have his public interest litigation taken up by the court. But the second half becomes bogged down in repetitive arguments, counterarguments, and lengthy court scenes that dilute its impact. While it aims to challenge long-held narratives, it ultimately struggles to stay engaging as it keeps circling the same debate without fresh insight.”DISCLAIMER: The box office numbers in this article are compiled from our proprietary sources and diverse public data.
