Sunny Sanskari fails to beat Baby John’s day 1 collection

Varun Dhawan’s ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’ fails to beat Baby John’s day 1 collection

Varun Dhawan’s recent box office struggles continue as his latest film, “Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari,” opened to a disappointing Rs 9 crore on a holiday. This figure falls short of his previous film “Baby John” and was overshadowed by “Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1,” indicating a challenging phase for the actor despite upcoming projects.

Varun Dhawan cemented his position in the movie business with films like Student of the year, Main Tera Hero, Badlapur, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, October,Badrinath Ki Dulhania and many more. But over the past few years the actor has been struggling to draw in audiences to cinema halls. In an attempt to reinvent himself,he even made his OTT debut with Citadel: Honey Bunny but even that failed to connect with the masses. Following the trend of how action films were working he went on to make Thuppaki’s in Hindi which was titled Baby John but even that film failed to cross Rs 40 crore mark despite releasing during Christmas and New Years time. But for his latest release the actor returned to familiar ground with Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, directed by Shashank Khaitan. The film featured Janhvi Kapoor opposite him and he had the support of Sanya Malhotra, Rohit Saraf and Maniesh Paul. The film had its release on Gandhi Jayanti/Dussehra holiday but the film was able to mint only Rs 9 crore as per Sacnilk. The film failed to beat even Baby John’s opening day collection of Rs 11.25 crore . Sunny Sanskari got marred first by release of Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1 which went on to collect Rs 19.25 crore in Hindi. The film also received very mixed reviews by the critics and audience. Though it has only been one day to it’s release and with a weekend kicking in from today, the film can see upsurge.
