‘Spider-Noir’ Trailer: Nicolas Cage swings into action as Ben Reilly in new Spider Man series set for May 27 release

Nicolas Cage embodies a weary, older Spider-Man in the new ‘Spider-Noir’ series trailer. Set in 1930s New York, the live-action show follows private investigator Ben Reilly confronting his past as a masked vigilante. The trailer, released in both black-and-white and color, hints at a darker take on the hero and features villains like Sandman and Electro.

After giving fans a tease of ‘Spider-Noir’ with first-look images, the makers of the new series have dropped the new trailer that sees Nicolas Cage swinging into action. The clip, debuting in both black-and-white and full-colour formats, introduce fans to a new ‘Spider-Man’ character, this one, a much older crime-solving detective, unlike the famed Peter Parker in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and animated franchises. Spinning the superhero’s iconic line around, the streamer relased the trailer with the tag line, “With no power comes no responsibility. ‘Spider-Noir’ – a live-action series starring Nicolas Cage.”

Based on Marvel Comics’ Spider-Man Noir, the series follows Ben Reilly, a burnt-out private investigator in 1930s New York who is forced to confront his past life as the city’s only masked vigilante. Cage stars as the ageing, detective navigating the shadowy nightclubs, skyscrapers and alleyways of Manhattan, fighting crime and taking down some famed Spidey villains.The series presents a darker take on the character and presents him as weary hero in a city steeped in corruption and danger.

‘Spider-Noir’ cast

Cage is joined by an ensemble cast including Emmy Award-winning actor Lamorne Morris as journalist Robbie Robertson, Li Jun Li as Cat Hardy, a nightclub singer and femme fatale, and Karen Rodriguez as Janet, Ben Reilly’s assistant detective. The trailer also features first-look glimpses of iconic Spider-Man villains – Sandman, Electro and Molten Man.

‘Spider-Man’ projects in the works

‘Spider-Noir’ comes at a time when fans of the superhero are awaiting the release of the Tom Holland starrer ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’. The animated sequel ‘Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse’ is also in the works, along with ‘Your Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man’ Season 2. As per the latest reports, ‘Spider-Punk’ and ‘Spider-Gwen’ are also in active development.

‘Spider-Noir’ release date

Prime Video confirmed that ‘Spider-Noir’ will premiere on May 27, with each episode released simultaneously in classic black-and-white and the other in full colour. Go to Source
