Declyn Lauper, son of Cyndi Lauper, has pleaded guilty to a 2024 gun charge, avoiding jail time. He agreed to probation, remaining arrest-free for a year, and substance abuse treatment. If terms are met, his charge could be reduced to criminal possession of a firearm, a significant reduction from the potential seven-year sentence.

Declyn “Dex” Lauper, the son of famed pop icon Cyndi Lauper, will not be serving time in prison over his 2024 gun-related charges. As per the latest reports, Lauper pleaded guilty to the charges almost two years after the incident actually happened. He reportedly struck a deal which ensures that while he remains under probation, he will not have to spend any time in jail.

In 2024, Lauper was taken into custody after the shooting of a 24-year-old man in Harlem. It was stated in the report that at the time, Lauper had a fanny pack on him that contained a gun. This resulted in a criminal complaint being filed, which was increased by two charges based on the the statement that he had the gun “with intent to use it unlawfully against another.”
