Malayalam romantic comedy-drama Spa is now preparing for its OTT release. Directed by Abrid Shine, the film hit the big screens on February 13 this year. The makers have now officially announced the film’s digital debut.
OTT release details of ‘Spa’
Spa will begin streaming on ManoramaMAX from May 28, 2026. The announcement was shared through the platform’s social media handles.’Spa’ unfolds in and around La Paradise which is an urban massage therapy centre where the lives of several characters intersect. The story primarily follows Mathan who is a man trying to understand the difference between real love and the romantic ideas he has built in his mind.
Shruthy Menon on playing Zara
Speaking about her approach to the role during a conversation with TOI City, Shruthy explained that she focused on understanding the character rather than looking at the role from a personal perspective. She said, “When I got Zara, the challenge for me was to think of her as a character.”According to the actress, viewing Zara purely as a character helped her approach the performance with greater clarity and confidence. Shruthy also spoke about the working environment during the filming process. She recalled that the atmosphere on set remained cheerful and supportive all along the shoot.The actress noted that fellow performers, including Radhika Radhakrishnan and Sreeja Das, shared similar scenes, which helped create a sense of comfort and camaraderie among the cast members. Describing the experience, she said, “And we got along like a house on fire. On set, the technicians were laughing, so it was like getting immediate response from an audience. Radhika and I kept it at a comedic level.”
Ensemble cast leads ‘Spa’
The film features Siddarth Bharthan, Shruthy Menon, Vineeth Thattil David and several other actors in key roles. The film’s music has been composed by Ishaan Chhabra. Apart from directing the film, Abrid Shine also took charge of the story and screenplay. The filmmaker, known for delivering distinctive narratives, once again explores a different setting and subject matter through Spa.Meanwhile, Abrid Shine’s previous film was ‘Mahaveeryar’.
