The monsoon has intensified across India, with the weather department issuing alerts for 22 states amid forecasts of heavy rainfall. Gujarat has been among the worst affected, with Surat witnessing severe waterlogging, flooded roads and extensive damage to banana crops due to strong winds and torrential rain. Several districts, including Vapi, Ahmedabad, Kheda and Tapi, have also reported disruption to normal life. In Navsari, rising rivers have flooded residential areas, submerged ground floors and trapped residents. The Army and NDRF are carrying out rescue operations, including the safe evacuation of a pregnant woman. Meanwhile, Surendranagar has also faced severe flooding, with several villages losing connectivity and residents being stranded in their homes. Authorities remain on alert as continued rainfall could worsen the situation.
