Bollywood came together with heavy hearts to bid farewell to veteran actor Dharmendra, who passed away on November 24 at the age of 89. A special prayer meet called ‘Celebration of Life’ was held on November 27, where his family, friends, and admirers gathered to remember him and pay tribute to his remarkable journey and legacy.

Dharmendra’s prayer meet at Taj Lands End

The ceremony was held on the lawns of Taj Lands End in Bandra, where the Deol family arranged a peaceful and intimate space for everyone to gather. Dharmendra’s children Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Ajeet, and Vijeta, from his first wife Prakash Kaur stood together as they remembered their father.

Sonu Nigam’s emotional tribute

One of the most touching moments came when singer Sonu paid a musical tribute by performing some of Dharmendra’s most loved songs, including ‘Main Kahin Kavi Na Ban Jau’, ‘Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas’, ‘Apne Toh Apne Hote Hai’, ‘Ro Lene De’, and ‘Yeh Dosti Hum Nahi Todenge’.Sunny and Bobby Deol’s emotional momentA widely shared video from the ceremony shows Sunny and Bobby breaking down during Nigam’s performance. The singer is seen holding both brothers and giving them a hug as they try to hold back their tears. Later, the Deol brothers thanked him for his heartfelt tribute, saying it deeply moved them.

Another video from the event shows singer Prithvi Gandharv singing Govind Bolo Hari Gopal Bolo, which added a peaceful vibes. Celebrities attend the prayer meetThe prayer meet evening also witnessed the members of Shah Rukh Khan’s family, others included Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Salman Khan, Madhuri Dixit, Vidya Balan, Shabana Azmi, Jackie Shroff, Sidharth Malhotra, Suniel Shetty, Ameesha Patel, Fardeen Khan, Nimrat Kaur, Sonu Sood, Anu Malik, Subhash Ghai, Abbas-Mastan, and filmmaker Anil Sharma, among others.

Dharmendra’s passing

Dharmendra, who was nearing his 90th birthday on December 8, passed away shortly after his health took a sudden turn for the worse while he was recuperating at home. The veteran actor had recently been discharged from Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital and was cremated on November 25 in the city.
