Shatrughan Sinha says he supports Sonakshi’s interfaith wedding with Zaheer

Shatrughan Sinha says he supports daughter Sonakshi Sinha's interfaith wedding with Zaheer Iqbal: 'Koi gair kaanoni kaam nahi kiya hai'

Veteran actor and Shatrughan Sinha recently spoke about his daughter Sonakshi Sinha’s 2024 wedding to Zaheer Iqbal, calling the couple a perfect match. The interfaith marriage was solemnised under the Special Marriage Act.In a conversation with News18, Sinha addressed questions surrounding the union, especially in light of his home being named Ramayana. Responding to whether everything was fine, he said, “Bilkul thik thaak hai. Hum bahot khush hai. Sonakshi ki jo shaadi hui hai, made for each other lagte hai dono. Zaheer, unka jo husband hai, aur Sonakshi, they look absolutely made for each other (Everything is fine. We are very happy. Sonakshi is married; they both seem made for each other. Zaheer, her husband, and Sonakshi look absolutely made for each other).”Emphasising that the marriage was lawful and in line with constitutional values, he added, “Sabsi badi aur sabse ahem baat yeh hai, humne jo kuch bhi kiya hai, koi gair kaanoni kaam nahi kiya hai, aur samvidhan ke khilaaf nahi kiya hai. Bachche jawan hai, bachche adults hai. Agar woh khush hai, toh miya-biwi raazi toh kya karega Qazi. Hume unka saath dena chahiye. Wholeheartedly, chattaan ki tarah unke saath ho (The biggest and most important thing is that whatever we have done, we have not done anything illegal or against the Constitution. The children are young, the children are adults. If they are happy, if the husband and wife are happy, then what can the Qazi do? I support them wholeheartedly, like a rock).”Sonakshi and Zaheer tied the knot at their residence in an intimate ceremony attended by close friends and family. While Shatrughan Sinha and Poonam Sinha were present, reports suggested that Sonakshi’s brothers did not attend the occasion. In an earlier interview with ETimes, Sonakshi had spoken about her wedding and said, “I’ve always believed that love always wins, no matter what. No matter how much hate people can throw at you, but if there’s… where there’s love, there is love, and it will always win, I’ve always believed that. And it’s not like we tried doing something, we would just… I literally… people were like, oh, you’re so brave that you followed your heart and got married to him. No, I just got married to the man I love. And literally, I’m not the first woman to do it, and I won’t be the last, certainly. And, you know, so I think it wasn’t something that we tried to do consciously. Or, you know, anything. It just happened, and the switch happened immediately after we got married. I think people could just see so much love, so much authenticity, so much. You know, merit in everything, that all the noise just kind of faded away on its own.” Go to Source
