Shahid Kapoor reveals why he has been picking gray roles

In an interview with the Hindustan Times, Shahid Kapoor opened up about his evolution as an actor over the years. He shared that when he started with ‘Ishq Vishk’, his approach towards acting was quite simple. He said, “I was the quintessential romantic guy, and the roles were fairly straightforward.”Shahid added that with every movie and phase of life, his relationship with the craft evolved. He expressed that over time, he started finding himself gravitating towards characters with “more depth, people with layers, contradictions, and gray zones.”The actor expressed, “I enjoy diving into what drives them, what challenges them, and even what they’re trying to conceal. That internal complexity excites me far more today.”Shahid also stated that “authenticity” became his priority over delivering a “polished performance.” The actor said, “I’m interested in truth, vulnerability, and the nuances that make a character feel real.” Shahid shared that this shift in his attitude towards picking roles has completely transformed how he approaches his work.
