Shabana Azmi REVEALS Javed Akhtar’s hidden acting talent; says 'He is so effortless in front of the camera

Shabana Azmi recently worked with her husband Javed Akhtar in a jewellery brand commercial. This was the first time they shared the screen together in an ad. The theme of the campaign was soulmates, and that touched Shabana deeply.In an interview with Mid Day, she said, “I have a soft corner for the word. I truly believe Javed is my soulmate.”People loved seeing the two together and for many years, viewers have seen Shabana Azmi shine on screen. But watching Javed Akhtar stand beside her and feel so natural surprised many.

Talking about the response to the ad, Shabana shared that people found it very real and natural. She explained why it felt that way. She said, “We’ve had an overwhelming response, [with many] saying it’s so natural. That’s because we made up our own lines despite being given the content! Javed is getting many acting offers now because he is so effortless in front of the camera.”At 80, Javed Akhtar is now being noticed in a new way.

Their love story and what keeps it strong

Shabana and Javed’s long marriage feels special. She shared what keeps them together. She said they are best friends. They come from similar backgrounds and share the same way of looking at life. She added, “Our interests are similar, except for sports, about which I don’t have a clue.”She also spoke about their differences. “He doesn’t move from his seat, which drives me mad. He complains that I am always moving around the house and incapable of sitting still!” she laughed.

Fights, anger, and a simple magic rule

The veteran actress has never said their marriage is perfect. In early 2025, she spoke to Pinkvilla about their fights. She said they argue, shout, and get very angry with each other. But they have a simple rule to handle it. She revealed, ” When things go too far, one of us says ‘drop it,’ and the other must stop.”
