Selena Gomez reveals that Lupus affected her brand’s packaging

Last year, while featured on the ‘Good Hang with Amy Poehler’, Gomez opened up about the struggles she has faced because of her Lupus, which in turn also affected how she manufactured her beauty brand. For the past couple of years, the singer and actress has been a business owner and has been running her very own beauty brand. During the podcast, she revealed that she has been suffering from arthritis because of her Lupus, which has severely affected her day-to-day life. Not only that, but she even revealed that to make matters more convenient, this also ended up influencing the way her brand’s packaging was made! She stated that “So, I remember before the brand, I was trying to open a water bottle and it hurt really bad before I was on the right medication. And we somehow inherently made the products easy to open, and then we realized, wait — they kind of have to be that way,” she explained. “And then we started to make every product with the intention of [working for] anybody who [has] dexterity problems.”She further commented that all of this is extremely important to her and that she wishes to make her products as “easy and accessible” to everyone of any age as much as she can. Over the years, Gomez has been quite open about her journey with Lupus and how she actively takes medication for it as well.

What is Lupus?

As per the Cleveland Clinic, Lupus is “an autoimmune disease that makes your immune system damage organs and tissue throughout your body. It causes inflammation that can affect your skin, joints, blood and organs like your kidneys, lungs, and heart. A healthcare provider will help you find medications to manage symptoms and reduce how often you experience flare-ups.”
