As Hrithik Roshan turns a year older today, an old clip of Ram Gopal Varma began to do rounds where he revealed that he wasn’t sure if Hrithik would be able to make it in the industry. The revelation came during a conversation on on his YouTube channel, where he reflected on Hrithik’s debut phase and how dramatically the perception around him changed.“When I saw Hrithik Roshan, I didn’t think he would become a star,” RGV said, noting that the sentiment was shared by many insiders. “Most of the industry also did not think, because of which they didn’t sign him. Before his first film Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai released, nobody signed him. And once he became a superstar everybody is after him.”Released in 2000, Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai not only became a blockbuster but turned Hrithik into a nationwide sensation overnight. His dual role, dancing prowess, screen presence, and charisma gave Bollywood a new leading man.The film’s success is often cited as one of the most impactful debuts in Hindi cinema history.Over the years, Hrithik has built a career marked by both commercial triumphs and critically acclaimed performances. From action blockbusters like Dhoom 2 and War, to the superhero franchise Krrish, to historical spectacles like Jodhaa Akbar, to performance-driven dramas like Zindagi Na Milegi Dobaara, Lakshya and Guzaarish, he has carved out a unique position in the industry. Hrithik, who celebrates his birthday today, has recently turned producer for a web show which has recently gone on floors. He is also expected kick start the journey of Krissh 4 with which he will turn director. Ram Gopal Varma is all set to return to Hindi cinema with Police Station Mein Bhoot with Manoj Bajpayee, Genelia D’souza and Ramya Krishnan. He is also working on Sarkar 4 with Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan.
