‘Ramayana’ trailer hints at November 8 release?

'Ramayana' release date revealed in trailer? Ranbir Kapoor, Yash starrer set for November 8 release, to CLASH with 'Godzilla: Minus Zero'

The makers of ‘Ramayana’ unveiled an early glimpse of the film’s trailer to a select audience, ahead of its global premiere on July 24. The clip that was screened for members of the media, directors and film industry insiders has been receiving overwhelmingly positive reviews on social media, with filmmakers like Siddharth Anand and Atlee hailing the clip as ‘Spectacular’.However, it was another trailer review that has set tongues wagging.

‘Ramayana’ release date revealed?

Posting the trailer review, @idlebrainjeevi wrote, “Watched the #Ramayana trailer in 3D at Bharat Mandapam, Delhi, a couple of days ago. The trailer will be released to the public on 24 July. The casting is spot on, and the colour palette and overall visual identity feel authentically Indian. Artificial-looking and overly Western-style elements have been kept to a minimum. It’s a spectacular trailer. Ranbir Kapoor is perfect as Lord Rama, while Yash is terrific as Ravana. Sai Pallavi delivers a graceful and convincing portrayal of Sita. The visuals, music, and VFX are truly world-class.” However, it was the concluding line, “Can’t wait for the film to hit theatres on 8 November,” that raised eyebrows. It is still unclear if the date mentioned is the official release date of the film, slated to hit theatres worldwide on the festival of Diwali. This also happens to be the first indication that the makers are going ahead with a November release, instead of an ‘October end release’ as indicated by Yash early this year, while promoting the film at Cinema Con. The announcement sets up a high-profile box office clash with Takashi Yamazaki’s ‘Godzilla: Minus Zero’, which is scheduled to open globally on November 6, 2026, just two days before ‘Ramayana’.

‘Ramayana’ to clash with ‘Godzilla: Minus Zero’

If the post about the November release is true, then it places ‘Ramayana’ alongside another major global event film – ‘Godzilla: Minus Zero’. Directed by Academy Award winner Takashi Yamazaki, the film is set to debut globally in theatres and IMAX on November 6, 2026. The sequel follows the critically acclaimed ‘Godzilla Minus One’ and marks the first Japanese Godzilla film to be shot entirely for IMAX.The film has also been confirmed for a North American theatrical release on November 6, ensuring it will open in major international markets just ahead of ‘Ramayana’. While the two films belong to different genres, their release dates will see them competing for premium screens, including IMAX and other large-format auditoriums, in several territories. Both films are among the most anticipated releases of 2026. While ‘Ramayana’ will be the first of a two-part epic, ‘Godzilla’ is said to be the final film in the franchise. The film’s release also follows the worldwide success of its predecessor, which became the highest-grossing Japanese live-action film in North America and won the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects.
