Ramayana teaser first reviews: Ranbir Kapoor starrer called ‘goosebumps-filled’, ‘divine’, with stunning VFX and AR Rahman–Hans Zimmer score

The first glimpse of Ramayana, starring Ranbir Kapoor, has already set social media buzzing even before its official release on Hanuman Jayanti today (April 2). Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and backed by Namit Malhotra, the film also features Sai Pallavi, Yash and Sunny Deol in key roles. A special screening of the glimpse was recently held in Los Angeles, and early reactions have been overwhelmingly positive. The teaser, reportedly 2 minutes and 38 seconds long, is already being described as a “goosebumps-filled” experience, with powerful visuals, scale and background score grabbing attention.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh was among the first to share his reaction, writing, “#JaiShriRam… Just watched the new glimpse – #Rama – from the most-awaited epic #Ramayana, and I am mesmerised.”He added, “It is breathtaking, no doubt, but more importantly, the glimpse lives up to the massive, gigantic expectations.”Praising Ranbir Kapoor’s portrayal, he noted, “#RanbirKapoor, who portrays Lord Rama, looks exceptional – exuding grace, divinity and strength… The stunning visuals, the groundbreaking VFX, and an electrifying background score [#HansZimmer and #ARRahman] – this glimpse from #Ramayana is simply spectacular.” He further wrote, “Like I said earlier, #Ramayana is not just a film for today, but for generations to come…” Film tracker Ramesh Bala echoed similar sentiments, tweeting, “Just watched #RamayanaByNamitMalhotra Next Glimpse ‘RAMA’… and WOW 🔥”He added, “This isn’t just a glimpse, it’s a DIVINE EXPERIENCE on screen ✨ The aura, the scale, the emotion — everything screams EPIC in every frame 🙏”Calling it a landmark moment, he wrote, “‘RAMA’ arrives with power, grace & goosebumps like never before 💥 Indian cinema is about to witness something truly monumental ❤️‍🔥”

Ranbir Kapoor on playing Lord Ram

Meanwhile, Ranbir Kapoor opened up about his initial hesitation in taking on the role of Lord Ram.“I remember when Namit offered me this part around four years back, my instant reaction was: ‘I am not fit enough, good enough.’ I felt I wouldn’t be able to do full justice,” he said during a screening event.He added, “But that fear quickly turned into gratitude because opportunities like this were something I truly needed in my life.”

The actor also spoke about how fatherhood changed his perspective. “The sweet coincidence of playing Lord Ram and becoming a father became a turning point in my life,” he shared.Set 5,000 years ago, Ramayana is envisioned as a two-part live-action saga, with Part 1 slated for a worldwide release on Diwali 2026, followed by Part 2 in Diwali 2027.
