Ram Charan: ‘Box office numbers represent the audience’

'Box office numbers represent the audience,' Ram Charan compares 'Peddi' and 'Dhurandhar' success

Ram Charan recently talked about the changing scenario of the film industry in India. He also referred to the success of ‘Peddi’ and ‘Dhurandhar’ as proof that people are still excited about watching movies in theatres. Speaking at a summit, the actor refuted the claim that people have stopped going to theatres since the pandemic. For him, the huge audience response to these films proves that people will always come back for good entertainment. His comments quickly caught the attention of movie lovers, especially as ‘Peddi’ continues its successful theatrical run.

Ram Charan credits quality cinema

During the interaction, Ram Charan was asked whether cinema halls were struggling to attract audiences in the post-COVID era. The actor confidently dismissed that concern. As reported by Republic, he said, “When there’s great cinema like KGF, Pushpa 2, Dhurandhar, Kantara and RRR, people have come back to the theatres.” He admitted that many in the industry were worried during the pandemic period, but audience behaviour has changed once again in favour of theatres. He also pointed out that cinema remains one of the most affordable forms of entertainment in India. “You take your family, watch a film, and then discuss it together. It is a great communal activity,” he said, while jokingly adding that lower popcorn prices would make the experience even better.

Ram Charan praises Dhurandhar’s historic achievement

The actor also had special praise for Ranveer Singh’s ‘Dhurandhar,’ which became one of the biggest blockbusters in Indian cinema. Ram Charan revealed that he recently watched the film on OTT and was highly impressed. “It was terrific, fantastic, and phenomenal. Everything fell into place in the right way and at the right tempo,” he said. He further explained that films with strong emotional and national themes often connect with audiences across regions. According to him, the film’s record-breaking collections reflected how deeply viewers embraced its story. “Box office numbers represent the audience who accepted the film and came to theatres,” he noted.

‘Peddi’ and ‘Dhurandhar’ show the power of pan-Indian cinema

While ‘Dhurandhar’ dominated the box office with extraordinary collections, Ram Charan’s ‘Peddi’ has also emerged as a major success story. Directed by Buchi Babu Sana and featuring Janhvi Kapoor as the female lead, the film has enjoyed a strong run since its release. Both movies for Ram Charan indicate a greater trend of Indian movies in which the story can cross the boundary of language to reach out to more people. While ‘Peddi’ is doing well and ‘Dhurandhar’ remains a blockbuster benchmark movie, Charan feels that the future of theatrical movies looks better than ever.
