Suriya is one of the senior actors in the Tamil film fraternity. Working in the industry since the late 90’s, the artist went on to become a star after delivering some of the most commercial and critically acclaimed films from the early 2000’s to the mid 2000’s, including the ‘Singam’ franchise, ‘Ghajini’, ‘ Vaaranam Aayiram’ and ‘Kaakha Kaakha’ others.

Quote of the Day

Suriya during the audio launch of his film ‘Karuppu’ said, “Dreams have no expiry date.”At the audio launch of his film ‘Karuppu’, Tamil actor Suriya spoke about his co-star, Malayalam actor Indrans, in a very touching way. During the event, Suriya shared that when Indrans first started acting people used to make fun of him for how he looked. It was unfair and hurtful, but Indrans never stopped. He shared how Indrans who worked as a costume designer, then took small roles and kept acting. He kept believing in himself. And years later, he won a National Award.Suriya used this story to remind everyone of one simple but powerful truth. If it tells us something, one always aspires or dreams for more. Although he has tasted huge box office success before, post pandemic Suriya has had some mediocre outings from his standards and has been eyeing a big hit.

Suriya’s outings before ‘Karuppu’

He went through a tough phase in his career where his flicks struggled to get a solid grip on the box office. His 2024 film ‘Kanguva’ made on a massive budget received mixed to negative reviews and underperformed badly in theatres, so much that it was considered one of the biggest disappointments of that year. His next collaboration with Karthik Subbaraj, although considered a good film, just couldn’t find its desired run. Opening to mostly favorable reviews, the film lost steam much earlier than expected and ended up being another failureHis latest fantasy action thriller, ‘Karuppu’ became Suriya’s highest-grossing film of all time.It doesn’t matter how old you are, what you look like, or how many times people have put you down. Your dream is still valid. It is never too late.
