Priyanka Chopra on hiring security for daughter Malti Marie

Priyanka Chopra on hiring security for daughter Malti Marie: ‘Nobody’s gonna kill me, but don’t record us without consent’

In an age where privacy is increasingly fragile, Priyanka Chopra Jonas has drawn a clear line when it comes to protecting her daughter, Malti Marie. The global star, who is used to living under constant public scrutiny, says motherhood has reshaped her priorities — especially when it comes to safety and boundaries. In a recent interview with Variety, Priyanka addressed why she employs a security team, clarifying that it has little to do with celebrity status or fear. “I am ok with being approached by anyone and taking photos, and they (guards) know that I love people coming to talk to me,” she said, emphasising that she enjoys meeting fans. However, she added that her guards are present “to make sure we’re not being recorded without consent.”

‘That’s my biggest thing with everyone having cellphones’

Priyanka pointed out that in today’s digital world, everyone carries a camera, making it easy to capture and circulate moments instantly — often without permission. “That’s my biggest thing with everyone having cellphones. It happens often, especially with my daughter. We’re in the park or having ice cream, and suddenly I’ll see it online,” she shared. The actor was also quick to dismiss dramatic assumptions about her safety. “Otherwise, I don’t need it. Nobody’s gonna kill me,” she said candidly.

Priyanka Chopra’s Sweet Sunday Tradition with Nick & Malti Marie

Since welcoming Malti Marie in January 2022, Priyanka has offered selective glimpses of her family life on social media while consciously keeping her daughter’s face away from the public eye. For her, the security team acts as a buffer against digital intrusion rather than a barrier between her and her fans. At its core, Priyanka’s stance is simple — she wants her daughter to experience an ordinary childhood. Whether it’s playing in a park or enjoying ice cream, she believes those moments should remain personal, not viral.
