Priya seeks access to Sunjay’s EPF funds for Karisma’s kids’ fees

Priya Kapur moves Delhi HC seeking access to late Sunjay Kapur’s EPF funds for Karisma Kapoor’s children Samaira and Kiaan’s school fees

The Delhi High Court on Tuesday issued a formal notice on an application filed by Priya Kapur, who has sought permission to access late businessman Sunjay Kapur’s Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) accounts to pay the school fees and educational expenses of his children, Samaira and Kiaan, with former wife Karisma Kapoor.According to Republic World, the plea was heard on May 26, 2026, and seeks clarification and partial modification of an interim injunction passed by a coordinate bench on April 30, which had frozen Sunjay Kapur’s vast estate amid an ongoing inheritance battle.

Plea seeks modification of April 30 order

According to court filings, Priya Kapur has requested changes to clauses (b) and (d) of paragraph 79 of the interim order. The April 30 ruling had restrained any liquidation, transfer or dissipation of Sunjay Kapur’s personal assets and corporate holdings. However, the order reportedly carved out limited scope for addressing essential obligations related to his children.Priya Kapur has now sought explicit approval from the court to withdraw money from the late industrialist’s provident fund accounts exclusively for educational purposes concerning Samaira and Kiaan Kapur. Her legal representatives reportedly clarified before the court that the funds would only be used towards school fees and related academic expenses.

Legal battle over Sunjay Kapur’s estate continues

The dispute surrounding Sunjay Kapur’s reported Rs 30,000-crore empire has involved multiple members of the Kapur family, including Priya Kapur, Karisma Kapoor’s children and Sunjay’s mother, Rani Kapur.Following Sunjay Kapur’s death in June 2025, the High Court froze his domestic assets after objections were raised regarding a contested 2025 will, which family members have allegedly described as forged due to claimed digital and textual inconsistencies. In a parallel legal proceeding, Rani Kapur has also sought dissolution of a family trust, accusing Priya Kapur of using her medical vulnerability to gain control over corporate affairs. The matter is currently being mediated by former Chief Justice of India D. Y. Chandrachud under the supervision of the Supreme Court of India.
