Parmeet’s mother was shot during partition, had bullet in her body for 2 yrs

Parmeet Sethi reveals his mother was shot during partition, the bullet remained in her body for 1-2 years: 'Nobody knew where it was'

Parmeet Sethi, Archana Puran Singh and their children Aaryamann and Aayushmaan are quite popular on social media with their Youtube channel. In a new vlog, Parmeet revealed that his mother, Sushil Sethi, was accidentally shot as a child while living in what is now Pakistan, and the bullet remained lodged inside her body for nearly two years because medical technology at the time was limited. In a video shared on Aary Vlogs, Parmeet remembered his mother while preparing one of her recipes with his son, Aaryamann Sethi. Describing Sushil as “total filmy”, he shared that the family had first relocated to Ahmedabad after Partition before eventually settling in Mumbai.Recalling the horrifying episode, Parmeet said, “During the partition, she was shot. She got a bullet.” Though he did not mention the exact city where they were living at the time, he revealed that his mother was only around 10–12 years old when the incident took place.Explaining the circumstances, he said, “There was a tailor who used to come to their house to stitch clothes. My grandfather’s house used to have a gun, so he had sneaked into the house to steal the gun. He wanted to use it during the riots.”Parmeet further shared that his mother woke up after hearing noises inside the house. “He asked her not to make any noise and she was about to scream and he just shot her,” he recalled.Because medical facilities were limited during that period, doctors were unable to trace the bullet immediately. “The bullet was roaming around in her body. No one knew where it was,” Parmeet said, adding that his mother remained unwell for nearly two years and had to stay away from school during that time.By then, the family had moved to India. He recalled how the bullet was eventually discovered unexpectedly. “One day, the nurse was giving her a massage and the bullet almost just poked out of her back. They immediately took her to the doctor. She had an operation and the bullet was taken out then. It was after 1-2 years,” he shared. In another older video posted on Archana Puran Singh’s YouTube channel, Parmeet and Archana had also spoken about how they kept their marriage a secret for nearly eight years. Because of that, they continued addressing each other’s parents as “uncle” and “aunty.”“We didn’t want anyone to know that we were married,” Archana had said, adding, “So that uncle and aunty is still going on. And everyone is happy with it.”Parmeet’s mother passed away a few years ago. In an earlier interview with Instant Bollywood, Archana also recalled the difficult moment she learnt about her mother-in-law’s death while she was in the middle of shooting for a comedy show.“There was a comedy show, and I think we had shot half of the episode when I got the news that my mother-in-law had passed away. I told them that I had to go, but they asked me to just sit through the show. I laughed and imagined, in my head, what is going on now that my mother-in-law had just died. I don’t know how I laughed. After spending 30–40 years in this industry, you know the producer’s money is invested in this. You can’t leave your work incomplete. My husband also understood. Everything went dark, I couldn’t see anything; they just said ‘action,’ and I laughed and laughed. I thought, who would have such a fate that they had to laugh even after hearing such news… but the show must go on.”
