Nick reveals Priyanka’s heart-stopping 50-second silence during Greece proposal on her birthday

'She stared at me': Nick Jonas reveals Priyanka Chopra’s heart-stopping 50-second silence during Greece proposal on her birthday in 2018

Nick Jonas revealed he was anxious before proposing to Priyanka Chopra in Greece on July 19, 2018, after a delayed flight disrupted his midnight plan. Priyanka had no idea, later taking 40-50 seconds to say yes. The couple married in December 2018 in Jodhpur and welcomed daughter Malti Marie in 2022.

Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas remain one of the most beloved celebrity couples in the spotlight. On a recent episode of Hey Jonas, Nick opened up about proposing to the actress on July 19, 2018, just two months into their relationship. The couple had jetted off to Greece to celebrate Priyanka’s birthday, which falls on July 18, and Nick planned to pop the question at midnight the following day. However, a delayed flight threw his carefully arranged surprise off track, leaving him on edge that things wouldn’t go as planned. Priyanka, for her part, recalled being puzzled by Nick’s nervousness throughout the trip, with no idea that a proposal was on the horizon.

Nick Jonas on his nervous countdown

Nick shared the anxious moments before his proposal to Priyanka, revealing how unexpected delays nearly derailed his carefully laid plan. “When we got engaged, I had this plan to do it at midnight after her birthday. Our flight is delayed, which is putting us back 3-4 hours,” Nick said, explaining that he was constantly calculating the timing in his head while Priyanka remained unaware. “Now I am doing the time in my head, and she is like ‘What are you stressed about?'”, recalled Nick.

Nick Jonas kept Priyanka in the dark

Priyanka admitted she had absolutely no idea what was in store. “I don’t know this. I think we are just going for a holiday,” she said. Nick shared that they eventually landed in Greece well behind schedule, spending the dinner nervously keeping track of the time. “I am looking at the clock the whole time. And I am like this is going to be a disaster. We are not going to get it right,” he shared. Priyanka, on her end, sensed something was off but simply put it down to Nick’s personality. “I was wondering why is he anxious on this holiday? Is this the kind of person he is?” she joked.

Nick Jonas finally pops the question

At around 2:30 am, right as Priyanka mentioned heading to bed, Nick told her he had one more gift for her. He walked back to get the ring, then dropped to one knee to propose. Nick recalled that Priyanka’s yes didn’t come immediately, she spent close to a minute simply staring at him while he waited nervously with the ring. “I said I have one more gift for you. I went back to the room, grabbed the ring and proposed. And it all worked out the way it did. But she didn’t say yes right away. It took her like 40-50 seconds. She was staring at me. I was on my knee like, ‘Should I put the ring on?'” he recalled. Priyanka, however, clarified that he had already slipped the ring on before she gave her answer.
