Nawazuddin on 8-hour shift debate: ‘Sabke liye…’

'Thamma' star Nawazuddin Siddiqui jumps into the 8-hour shift debate: 'Sabke liye hone chahiye'

The departure of Deepika Padukone from two Telugu films has sparked a vigorous discussion about work-life balance in the film industry. Nawazuddin Siddiqui spoke out, emphasizing the need for reasonable working hours for all artists. Padukone had earlier noted that while male lead actors often enjoy 8-hour workdays without much debate, the same cannot be said for their female counterparts.

Deepika Padukone’s exit from two Telugu movies, ‘Spirit’ and ‘Kalki 2989 AD’, sparked debate over 8-hour shifts in the industry. While several actors and filmmakers have shared their opinion, Nawazuddin Siddiqui is the newest member to join the bandwagon. Here’ what the ‘Thamma’ actor has to say about it.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui reacts to 8-hour shifts in industry

Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who is currently enjoying the praise and success of ‘Thamma’, opened up about shifts in the industry. In an interview with India Today, the actor shared, “I don’t know much about it. I’m yet to read about it in detail. Jo comfortable ho, jitne hours comfortable ho, sabke liye hone chahiye. Jisme aap na thake aur apna kaam bhi aasani se karke chale (whatever is comfortable and should be for everyone. It should be in a way so that you don’t get tired and it allows you to easily complete your work).”

Deepika Padukone’s statement on 8-hour shifts

In an earlier interview with CNBC TV 18, Deepika Padukone had defended her take on the 8-hour shift demand. She had said, “By virtue of being a woman, if that comes across as pushy or whatever, then so be it. But it is no secret that a lot of superstars, male superstars, in the Indian Film Industry, have been working for 8 hours for years, and it’s never made headlines!”The actress stated that she doesn’t want to take any names, but a lot of male actors have said it publicly. She added that they just work during weekdays and not on weekends.Meanwhile, after she backed out from ‘Spirit’, Sandeep Reddy Vanga announced that Triptii Dimri has been brought onboard for the movie. On the other hand, makers of ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ are yet to announce who will be replacing Deepika in the film.
