Muzammil clarifies on viral no regrets breakup clip involving Deepika

Muzammil Ibrahim clarifies how 'context was completely lost' on viral 'no regrets' breakup clip involving Deepika Padukone: 'I’ve always tried to speak about people in my past with respect'

Muzammil Ibrahim clarified that his viral “no regrets” remarks about ex-girlfriend Deepika Padukone were from an old interview, taken out of context. He revealed he was her first boyfriend and stayed friends after their split, adding he’s happy she now has a loving family with Ranveer Singh. Deepika is expecting her second child.

Muzammil Ibrahim, the actor-model who once dated Deepika Padukone, is back in the news after a dated interview of his resurfaced online, prompting him to offer a fresh clarification. With clips of him claiming he had “no regrets” over the breakup and that he had ended things himself continuing to do the rounds, Muzammil pointed out that the interview was old and its context had been lost through editing.

Muzammil Ibrahim reacts to resurfaced interview

In a note posted on Instagram, Muzammil clarified that the clip being circulated as “fresh claims” was, in fact, from an interview recorded more than a year ago, adding that he has always spoken about Deepika with respect, even as the old remarks resurfaced. He wrote, “The interview being discussed and wrongly headlined as “fresh claims” was recorded over a year ago. What is currently being circulated are a few moments from a much longer conversation. The hesitation, the context, and the respect with which certain topics were discussed are often lost in the editing process and when excerpts are viewed in isolation.” He pointed out that the nuance of the original conversation had been lost in how the clips were being shared. “I have always tried to speak about people from my past with respect, and that remains unchanged. Like many others, I have spent years focused on building my work and my life, and that is where I hope the conversation remains. I stand by speaking honestly, and I stand by doing so respectfully. – Muzammil Ibrahim,” the actor concluded.

Muzammil Ibrahim’s viral remarks from June 2025

The clip is from Muzammil’s June 2025 interview with Siddharth Kanan, where he talked, a bit hesitantly, about his relationship with Deepika. In the viral part, he said, “She (proposed to me first). I left her. No, I never regret leaving anyone. Main sakth launda hoon bhai. (I am a tough guy, brother). I was a star at that time; she was not. She was a model. She is a superstar now; nobody knows me. I’m a big fan.” He also said he was the first person Deepika met in Mumbai and her first serious boyfriend. He said they stayed good friends and talked on the phone for a few years after breaking up, but haven’t spoken since she got married. He also said he was never jealous of her success, and now that he’s older, he’s happy to see her doing well.

Muzammil Ibrahim on Deepika Padukone’s married life

Muzammil further mentioned that Deepika now has a loving husband in actor Ranveer Singh, along with a daughter, Dua, something he said she had always wished for and added that the couple are expecting their second child.

Deepika Padukone’s upcoming projects

On the professional front, Deepika was last seen in ‘Singham Again’ (2024) and will next be seen in director Atlee’s ‘Raaka’, opposite Allu Arjun. The actress also has ‘King’ in her pipeline, directed by Siddharth Anand and starring Shah Rukh Khan. Produced by Red Chillies Entertainment, the film is slated for a big Christmas release this year.
