Music director Shankar Ganesh hospitalized in Chennai: Legendary composer suffers breathing issues, and fans pray for his recovery

Renowned music composer Shankar Ganesh has been admitted to SIMS Hospital in Vadapalani, Chennai, due to sudden shortness of breath. Doctors are keeping him in the ICU and providing him with intensive treatment. As per News 18, he fell ill while he was on his way to Karur to attend the DMK’s grand festival. He was supposed to sing a song at the event and was taken to the hospital due to a sudden illness.

Shankar Ganesh remained active despite limited film opportunities

Shankar Ganesh has been one of the leading music composers in the Tamil film industry for decades. Despite his advanced age, he continues to participate in musical performances and cultural events. Despite the limited opportunities in film songs, he has remained in touch with his fans and has showcased his musical talent on various platforms. The active musician’s recent health problems have caused concern among fans and the music world.

Shankar Ganesh’s career spanned decades of success

Shankar Ganesh began his journey in the world of music as an assistant to Viswanathan-Ramamoorthy. He later made his debut as a music composer with the film ‘Maharaasi’ in 1967. He rose to fame with the film ‘Aattukkara Alamelu’ starring MGR and established his own identity by composing music for many successful films in the 1980s–90s. His music was well-received in many films, including ‘Sivappu Malli,’ ‘Chidambara Ragasiyam,’ ‘Sattam Oru Iruttarai,’ ‘Oorkavalan,’ and ‘En Rathathin Rathame.’

Fans hope for Shankar Ganesh’s speedy recovery

Shankar Ganesh has composed music for films beyond Tamil, including Telugu and Kannada. His achievement of composing music for over a hundred films in total has elevated him to the status of an important music composer in South Indian cinema. It is concerning that Shankar Ganesh, who had recently entertained fans by participating in music concerts, was admitted to the hospital due to sudden shortness of breath.
