Mohanlal and Tharun Moorthy to reunite: Deets inside

Mohanlal to reunite with ‘Thudarum’ director Tharum Moorthy; shoot to start from January 23

Filmmaker Tharun Moorthy and superstar Mohanlal are reuniting for a new project, confirmed by producer Ashiq Usman. Filming commences January 23, 2026, following the success of their 2025 blockbuster ‘Thudarum’. Speculation suggests shooting in Thodupuzha and a potential reunion with Meera Jasmine. Excitement is high for this promising collaboration.

When filmmaker Tharun Moorthy picked the title of his first film with Mohanlal, he surely knew this collaboration would continue! Or how else would you explain the title ‘Thudarum,’ which translates to ‘to be continued’? The 2025 release was a turning point in Mohanlal’s career, as the thriller emerged as a blockbuster and also won the hearts of cinephiles and critics alike. Now that the Mohanlal-Tharun Moorthy collaboration has proven fruitful, the duo is reuniting! Yes, that’s right.

Mohanlal and Tharun Moorthy to reunite after ‘Thudarum’: Deets inside

On Wednesday, January 14, the ‘Drishyam 3’ release date was announced. Hours after the announcement, Tharun Moorthy shared a photo of a stretch of road with some indie dogs on his Instagram story and captioned it, “Find the place, feel the story.” The post was accompanied by the hashtag #L and ‘The Faceoff’ BGM from Mohanlal’s ‘Thudarum.’ Producer Ashiq Usman reshared the story and confirmed that their next film will start rolling on January 23, 2026!

Last month, the producer had confirmed that they are teaming up for a film. Ratheesh Ravi is scripting the film and Shaji Kumar has roped in as the cinematographer. “When a storyteller and a legend meet again, a universe stirs. After Thudarum, @tharun_moorthy and @mohanlal embark on another voyage.” “With your blessings, we begin weaving another tale of hearts and horizons. Rolling soon…” they said. ID@undefined Caption not available. The official announcement is expected to drop on January 23, when the film goes on floors. Some online reports claim that the upcoming film will be shot in Thodupuzha, the same place where Mohanlal’s famous ‘Drishyam’ franchise is shot. If reports are to be believed, Mohanlal will be reuniting with actress Meera Jasmine, his frequent collaborator in the 2000s, for the upcoming film. Given that ‘Thudarum’ was one of the highest-grossing films in 2025, the excitement around the upcoming film is soaring. Meanwhile, Mohanal is currently awaiting the release of ‘Drishyam 3,’ directed by Jeethu Joseph. The film marks the third installment from the franchise. The makers have confirmed that the film will hit the big screens during Easter, on April 2. Mohanlal’s recent outing was ‘Vrusshabha,’ a Telugu-Malayalam bilingual film.– Go to Source
