Madhuri Dixit once reacted to being paid more than Salman Khan in Hum Aapke Hain Koun: 'Baat chali hai...'

Madhuri Dixit addressed a long-standing rumor about her salary for Hum Aapke Hain Koun. Reports suggested she earned more than Salman Khan. She responded to this on The Anupam Kher Show. Sooraj Barjatya mentioned he would consider a new cast for a sequel. He prioritizes a strong story over star power. Madhuri was last seen in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3.

Madhuri Dixit and Salman Khan’s Hum Aapke Hain Koun is still seen as one of the biggest hits of their careers. Although both the actors received immense love and fame for their roles in the movie, reports were rife that Madhuri charged more than Salman for the film. In an old interview, the actress addressed this long-standing rumuor.

Madhuri reacts to salary rumours

In a throwback clip from The Anupam Kher Show, Madhuri chatted with the veteran actor. He brought up the rumour that she had earned more than Salman for the film. With her signature smile, Madhuri replied, “Well, agar yeh baat chali hai toh chalne do (If this is what people are saying, let them believe it).”

A timeless family drama

In an earlier interview with the Times of India, Sooraj Barjatya revealed that if he ever makes a sequel to Hum Aapke Hain Koun, he would go for a completely new cast instead of bringing back Salman Khan or Madhuri Dixit. The director explained that as actors get older, people care more about a good story than just big stars. He talked about his long friendship with Salman Khan but said he would work with Salman or Madhuri again only if the script is strong and the roles suit them. For him, a good story always comes first.Meanwhile, Hum Aapke Hain Koun also featured Renuka Shahane, Mohnish Bahl, Reema Lagoo, Laxmikant Berde, Alok Nath, and Anupam Kher. It still remains one of the most loved family dramas we have in Bollywood. On the work front, Madhuri was last seen in Anees Bazmee’s ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’. The film also starred Kartik Aaryan, Vidya Balan, and Triptii Dimri in lead roles.
