Madhoo defends Janhvi Kapoor over ‘Peddi’ criticism

Madhoo defends Janhvi Kapoor over ‘Peddi’ criticism, calls her a true star on the rise

Actress Madhoo has spoken in support of Janhvi Kapoor following discussions surrounding her portrayal in ‘Peddi.’ Ever since the film’s release, several viewers have criticized how Janhvi’s character was presented on screen. The debate grew further after director Buchi Babu Sana acknowledged the feedback and made changes to certain scenes. Amid the ongoing conversation, Madhoo shared her views on the responsibilities of actors and filmmakers when portraying characters.

Madhoo stresses the importance of personal boundaries in cinema

Speaking about the issue in an interview with Galatta, Madhoo explained that actors are not always aware of how scenes will eventually appear on screen. “We may perform a scene in a certain way, but the final presentation depends on camera angles and editing. The same moment can be shown beautifully or in a more sensual manner,” she said. However, the actress stressed that performers have every right to voice their concerns. “If you are aware of how something is being shown and you are not comfortable with it, then you can say, ‘This is not okay for me,’” Madhoo stated. She added that every actor has personal boundaries and that such decisions are ultimately based on individual comfort levels.

Madhoo praises Janhvi Kapoor’s growth as an actress

While discussing the criticism directed at Janhvi Kapoor over some of her recent film choices, Madhoo chose to focus on the actress’s talent and progress. “That is her personal choice, and I do not want to comment on that. But I love Janhvi as an actor,” she said. Madhoo went on to describe Janhvi as a genuine star who continues to improve with every project. “She is a great dancer, and I feel she is getting better with every film she does,” the actress added. Her comments highlighted admiration for Janhvi’s dedication and growth in the industry rather than the controversy surrounding the film.

‘Peddi’ team responds to audience feedback

The discussion around Janhvi Kapoor’s role began soon after ‘Peddi’ reached theatres, with many viewers expressing concerns about certain romantic scenes involving her character. Responding to the criticism, director Buchi Babu Sana admitted that he had not expected such a reaction from audiences. He later explained that the intention was to present a playful romance track, not to create discomfort. The director further admitted that certain shots could possibly be understood differently from their original intention and that corrective measures were indeed taken. With discussions ongoing regarding representation in film, Madhoo’s statements have provided another viewpoint to the discussion while giving some solace to Janhvi Kapoor.
