The tournament will open with a series of music performances tied to the first matches in each host country, starting with Mexico’s game against South Africa on June 11 and continuing with U.S. and Canada fixtures on June 12.The New York Times’ The Athletic first reported the lineup. FIFA has not yet announced the artists for the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final Halftime Show, which is scheduled for July 19 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

Katy Perry and Future lead U.S. World Cup ceremony

Katy Perry will headline the opening ceremony in Los Angeles before the U.S. men’s national team plays Paraguay on June 12. Future will also perform at SoFi Stadium, with DJ Sanjoy joining the event.The Los Angeles ceremony will mark one of the major entertainment moments of the tournament’s opening stretch. The U.S. match against Paraguay will bring a large global audience to SoFi Stadium, giving the music lineup a high-profile platform before kick-off.

Canada World Cup opening event adds Alanis Morissette

In Toronto, Canada will face Bosnia & Herzegovina on June 12. Michael Bublé will perform at the Canadian opening ceremony along with Alessia Cara and Alanis Morissette. The Athletic also reported that Jessie Reyez, Nora Fatehi and William Prince will be involved in the wider festivities. The report did not link those artists directly to the June 12 Toronto performance.Mexico will open the 2026 FIFA World Cup on June 11 against South Africa at Azteca Stadium. Fans there will see a pregame show featuring rock band Maná, Tyla and Los Ángeles Azules.More artists will appear across World Cup opening events in different locations. The wider lineup includes LISA, J Balvin, Anitta, Danny Ocean, Elyanna and Marilina Bogado.An official FIFA World Cup album is also in the works. Shakira has teased a reggaetón and Afrobeats collaboration with Burna Boy. The song, titled “Dai Dai,” is set to arrive with a music video on May 14.
