Karisma Kapoor steps out amid family feud over late Sunjay Kapur’s Rs 30,000 crore fortune; shoots in heavy Mumbai rains: PICS

Karisma Kapoor stepped out to shoot on 18 August during heavy Mumbai rains. She looked elegant in a jumpsuit with her hair tied in a neat ponytail. As she walked out of her vanity van, she spotted the paparazzi waiting. She quickly went back inside, but soon stepped out again to pose in the rain-soaked city. Even though she smiled for pictures, she rushed back in despite the paps calling out to her repeatedly.

Sunjay Kapur’s sudden demise sparks tension

Karisma’s late ex-husband Sunjay Kapur, a 53-year-old business tycoon, passed away suddenly in June this year. His unexpected demise left his family and friends shocked. As the chairman of a Rs 30,000 crore company, his passing triggered not only an investigation but also a heated family fued over control of the company and his massive fortune.

Mother Rani Kapur raises big claims

As reported by The Indian Express, the fight within the Kapur family grew sharper when Sunjay’s mother, Rani Kapur, wrote to the board of Sona Group. In her letter, she claimed she is the sole beneficiary of her late husband Surinder Kapur’s empire and the majority shareholder of the group, including Sona Comstar. Rani also alleged that she was forced to sign papers making her daughter-in-law, Priya Sachdev Kapur, a non-executive director on the board. However, the company hit back with a strong response, sending Rani a cease-and-desist notice. They stated she has had no role in the company since 2019.

Mandhira praises Karisma’s role as mother

While the family feud continues, Sunjay’s sister Mandhira recently spoke kindly about Karisma. In an interview with NDTV, she praised her for being a devoted mother.Madhira said, “She [Karisma] is a mother. She is a very good mother, I have to give her that. She has done a very good job of letting the family be one, which is…you know..I commend her in that. I think the kids have been close, and they’ve had a great relationship. Hopefully somehow, we can carry that on and let the family be one again because she is looking out for her kids like any mother would, and that’s what she is doing.”

Family bonds kept alive despite feud

When asked if she is still in touch with the ‘Raja Hindustani’ actress, Mandhira replied, “Yes, of course. I am sure she is in touch with Priya (Sunjay’s widow Priya Sachdev Kapur) too. The fact is we’ve all had a good relationship. The kids have been coming to see mom. We are all in touch. This is not meant to be a family feud.”
