Kriti’s trainer reveals the secrets behind her toned avatar

Kriti Sanon’s fitness trainer reveals the secrets behind her toned Cocktail 2 avatar: ‘She had to be fit and lean, not size zero’

Kriti Sanon has been garnering praise for her toned physique in the recently released trailer of Cocktail 2. Now, her fitness trainer Karan Sawhney has opened up about the intense preparation that went into helping the actor achieve the look required for her character, Ally, in the Homi Adajania directorial.

‘We didn’t just have a fitness goal, we had a director’s vision’

On June 4, Karan shared a behind-the-scenes video documenting Kriti’s fitness journey and revealed that the transformation was driven by a specific creative vision for the character.“When @kritisanon and I first had a chat, we didn’t just have a fitness goal, we had a director’s vision to bring to life,” he wrote.According to Karan, stepping into the role of Ally pushed Kriti beyond her previous fitness challenges, particularly as the film required her to perform her first-ever bikini scene.“She was stepping into the role of Ally in Cocktail 2. And with that came something that pushed her harder than anything before — her first ever bikini scene. That’s not just a physical challenge. That’s mental. That’s emotional. That’s showing up every single day even when you don’t feel like it,” he shared.

‘Fit and lean, not size zero’

Karan revealed that the brief from the makers was clear — Kriti needed to look fit, toned and strong without compromising her natural glow. “She had to be fit and lean, not size zero,” he said.Recalling the vision set by director Homi Adajania, Karan added, “The brief was clear and uncompromising. Super lean. Super toned. Abs that actually show on camera. Strength that reads through the screen. But this was the real challenge — don’t lose the glow. Don’t hollow out the face. The director needed Ally to look fit and luminous. Too lean and you lose that. Too soft and you miss the mark. That’s the fine line we walked. Every. Single. Week.”

Inside Kriti’s fitness regimen

Sharing details of the transformation process, Karan revealed that Kriti trained six days a week and followed a carefully structured plan. The regimen included heavy strength training to build muscle definition, incline walks for gradual and sustainable fat loss without sacrificing muscle mass, and Zone 2 cardio sessions to keep her metabolism active without causing burnout.Nutrition also played a key role in the process. Karan explained that the actor followed a high-protein diet while remaining in a calorie deficit. Her meals, recovery and sleep schedule were all closely monitored to ensure she maintained a healthy appearance while achieving a leaner physique.“The kind of training we did — with her nutrition, with her sleep, with her food — we included a lot of incline walks. She was eating a high-protein diet. We were in a sort of deficit, but with a lot of strength training and basically staying active throughout the day. It was a challenge, but as you can see, she pulled it off,” he said.Praising Kriti’s commitment, Karan added that the actor brought “dedication, consistency and discipline” to the process and credited her for bringing the character of Ally to life.
