Rishab Shetty’s ‘Kantara Chapter 1’ has reportedly surpassed ‘Chhaava’ to become 2025’s highest-grossing Indian film, crossing ₹800 crore worldwide. While Hombale Films claims ₹809 crore, Sacnilk reports a lower figure, highlighting a discrepancy in the reported box office numbers. The film’s performance places it at the top of the 2025 charts, ahead of other major releases.

The title of 2025’s highest-grossing Indian film has shifted from Chhaava to Kantara Chapter 1, as Rishab Shetty’s film crossed ₹800 crore worldwide, surpassing Chhaava’s lifetime total of Rs 807 crore.Hombale Films, the studio behind Kantara Chapter 1, reported that the period actioner earned Rs 717 crore worldwide in its first two weeks. In its third week, the film added Rs 38 crore net in India over the weekend and Rs 92 crore gross globally in six days, bringing its total to Rs 809 crore—surpassing Chhaava’s lifetime collection of Rs 807 crore.However, according to Sacnilk, Kantara Chapter 1 is still short of Chhaava’s record. Its 21-day worldwide total at around Rs 775 crore, with Rs 563.50 crore net from India and about $13 million from overseas. An English-language version is scheduled to release later this month.
