Rishab Shetty’s Kantara Chapter 1 delivered a massive opening weekend, collecting an impressive Rs 223.25 crore domestically. The film saw phenomenal audience turnout, with Sunday collections soaring to Rs 61 crore. It surpassed KGF Chapter 1’s domestic total, becoming the third-highest-grossing Kannada film in India, highlighting its strong box office dominance and widespread appeal.

Rishab Shetty’s Kantara Chapter 1 is racing ahead at the box office. After a strong start in its first three days, the film saw even higher collections and occupancy on Sunday, ending its opening weekend on a massive high.

Weekend collections soar

Kantara Chapter 1 collected Rs 162.85 crore net in India during its first three days. On Saturday, it brought in around Rs 55 crore, nearly 20 percent higher than Friday’s Rs 46 crore. The film’s momentum continued on Sunday, with strong numbers right from the morning shows. Audience turnout remains phenomenal

The movie has continued to draw huge crowds across India, recording an impressive 98–99 percent occupancy for the Kannada version’s afternoon and evening shows on Sunday in several parts of Karnataka. Overseas as well, Kantara Chapter 1 performed strongly for a film of its scale, collecting over $4 million in its first three days.

Beating recent big releases

On Sunday, Kantara Chapter 1 surpassed the total collections of several recent big releases, including Sitaare Zameen Par (Rs 167 crore), They Call Him OG (Rs 179 crore), and Lokah Chapter 1 (Rs 153 crore). Its biggest achievement, however, is beating the domestic collection of KGF Chapter 1 (Rs 185 crore), making it the third-highest-grossing Kannada film in India, behind only KGF Chapter 2 (Rs 860 crore) and the original Kantara (Rs 310 crore).

A prequel to the 2022 sleeper hit Kantara, Chapter 1 is written and directed by Rishab Shetty.
