Kantara Chapter 1, Rishab Shetty’s prequel to the 2022 hit, has smashed box office records, surpassing Salaar and Baahubali: The Beginning with a total domestic collection of Rs 437.65 crore by day 11. Praised for its performances, story, and VFX, the film has become the second-highest-grossing release of the year.

Rishab Shetty’s new prequel to Kantara has taken the box office by storm. After a massive opening, it has broken several records and even surpassed the lifetime collections of Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire and Baahubali: The Beginning.According to trade tracker Sacnilk, the Rishab Shetty starrer had an impressive opening week, earning Rs 337.4 crore. In its second week, the film collected Rs 22.25 crore on day 9 and saw a huge 75 percent jump on day 10 (Saturday), bringing in Rs 39 crore — with Rs 14.25 crore coming from the Hindi market alone. On Sunday, it added another Rs 39 crore, taking its total domestic collection to Rs 437.65 crore.With this, the film has crossed the lifetime India net collections of Prabhas and Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire, which earned Rs 406.45 crore, and SS Rajamouli’s epic Baahubali: The Beginning, which made Rs 420 crore in India.
