Kangana Ranaut says she faced ‘witch-hunting’ after ex filed case: 'Chudail hai, khoon peeti hai, kaala jaadu karti hai'

Kangana Ranaut has revisited a turbulent phase from her past, alleging that she was subjected to intense personal attacks and “witch-hunting” after an ex-partner filed a case against her. Kangana claimed that the situation spiralled into a public narrative that painted her in an extreme and damaging light. Looking back at that period, the actress maintained that she handled the situation to the best of her ability.

Kangana Ranaut has revisited a turbulent phase from her past, alleging that she was subjected to intense personal attacks and “witch-hunting” after an ex-partner filed a case against her.Speaking to ANI, Kangana claimed that the situation spiralled into a public narrative that painted her in an extreme and damaging light.“My ex who filed a case on me… and on top of that, kuch khade ho gaye ki ye to chudail hai khoon peeti hai kaale kamre mein kaale parde lagake kaala jaadu karti hai (some people stood up and said she’s a witch, she drinks blood, she does black magic.) So there was a witch-hunting. There was evident and very apparent witch-hunting happening at that time and I was hardly 26 or 27 years old. So when this is how they’re going to treat me, why should I make them look good…I have no reason to make them look good,” she said.Looking back at that period, the actress maintained that she handled the situation to the best of her ability.“Even today, when I look back, I think that I was just doing the best I could do,” she said, adding that she drew inner strength from her own journey and achievements.

Controversies around her personal life

Her remarks come against the backdrop of past allegations made by former partner Adhyayan Suman, who in a 2016 interview with DNA had claimed that he was asked to participate in unusual rituals. “One day, Kangana called me at home in the night to do some puja… She had covered it in black, including black curtains… There were some random statues of God, fire all around… She asked me to chant some mantras and locked me in. I was terrified,” he had alleged, also claiming he was later asked to perform rituals at a graveyard.

Defamation complaint in 2017

Separately, in 2017, Aditya Pancholi and his wife Zarina Wahab filed a criminal defamation complaint against Kangana and her sister Rangoli Chandel in an Andheri court over statements related to her past relationship with Pancholi.
