‘Kaantha’ box office collections day 4: Film touches Rs 15.50 crores

'Kaantha' box office collections day 4: Dulquer Salmaan’s film touches Rs 15.50 crore; Monday dip slows the momentum

Dulquer Salmaan’s historical epic ‘Kaantha’ has made quite an impact, raking in Rs 15.50 crore in its first week across Tamil and Telugu markets. Although there was a minor drop in ticket sales over the weekend, the film continues to draw in audiences, thanks to its dedicated fan base.

Dulquer Salmaan’s ‘Kaantha’ has wrapped up its first Monday with a total India net collection of Rs 15.50 crore, marking a decent performance for the period drama across Tamil and Telugu regions. After collecting an estimated Rs 13.85 crore over the opening weekend, the film recorded Rs 1.65 crore on Day 4, according to early numbers from Sacnilk website. The film began on a steady note on Friday, followed by a healthy rise on Saturday. Sunday, however, showed a slight dip, and the Monday drop has brought the film’s overall pace into a more moderate zone. Still, Kaantha has maintained a respectable hold.

Monday occupancy trends

In Tamil Nadu, Kaantha had an overall 12.85% occupancy on Monday. Morning shows remained on the lower side. The footfall gradually picked up during the afternoon and evening screenings. The night shows performed slightly better. The Telugu states showed a similar pattern. The film recorded 10.91% night show occupancy throughout the day. Afternoon and evening shows showed marginal improvement, though the numbers stayed below the weekend range. The weekday slowdown was expected, but the film’s steady presence in major centres suggests that a loyal audience base is still driving the collections.

Dulquer’s performance and period setting earn praise

Directed by Selvamani Selvaraj, Kaantha features Dulquer Salmaan in a rugged, intense avatar that has been widely appreciated. The film also stars Bhagyashri Borse, Rana Daggubati, Samuthirakani, and Bijesh Nagesh in important roles. The movie is getting good reviews for it’s execution style and Dulquer Salmaan’s performance. One Twitter review reads, “#Kaantha is my kinda film – a dialogue heavy drama, showcasing an ego tussle between guru and protégé, cinema within cinema, old world film sets, clothes, vehicles and charm, finally ending like a whodunit.” Another one wrote, “#Kaantha The performances, staging, production design, and music all operate at their absolute best. The team has clearly poured everything into the craft. But the screenplay choices pull down the overall impact.”DISCLAIMER: The box office numbers in this article are compiled from our proprietary sources and diverse public data.
