Jemimah Rodrigues opens up about cafe date with Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma; talked till they were 'thrown out'

With the ICC Women’s 50-over World Cup 2025 drawing close, Indian cricket star Jemimah Rodrigues got candid about her interaction with Virat Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma.

Cafe date with Virat and Anushka

Rodrigues recalled a meeting with the cricketer in New Zealand, where she and teammate Smriti Mandhana sought his advice on batting. Opening up to Mashable India, about their time together, she revealed that she and her teammate asked Virat if they could talk to him about batting, prompting him to invite them to a cafe in the hotel where the men’s and women’s teams were lodged. “Anushka was also there,” she said and went on to reveal, “First half an hour we talked about cricket.” She added, “he actually told Smriti and me that ‘you both have the power to change women’s cricket, and I can see that happening.”

Virat spoke like a long-lost friend

Rodrigues also revealed that their conversations went on for another 4 hours, where they “spoke about life. It felt like a few long-lost friends who met and spoke.”She quipped, “The only reason we stopped was because the café staff kicked us out.”

Virat and Anushka’s move to London

Meanwhile, on the personal front, Virat and Anushka are spending time in the UK, with their kids Vamika and Akaay. The family of four have been spotted from time to time, enjoyng a regular day out in town. Virat has also been seen getting fans and obliging many with photos and selfies while out and about the streets of London, while heading for his practise sessions.
