His popularity has crossed borders, making him a globally recognised name. Currently, he is in the middle of his AURA World Tour 2026, performing across North America. However, in the midst of his tour, a surprising report has surfaced claiming that Diljit is no longer an Indian citizen.

According to a report by The Indian Express, Diljit acquired American citizenship in 2022 and has been traveling on a US passport since September of that year. Whenever he visits India, he does so on an e-visa. The report further states that his last Indian passport was issued in Mumbai in 2018, and prior to that, one was issued in Zambia. The singer-actor is yet to respond to or address the report publicly.

Diljit Dosanjh on politics

Last week, Diljit made it clear that he has no interest in joining politics. He said he is happy doing what he does best, acting and singing. The topic came up after Punjabi Tribune published an article asking if Diljit could be the next political face of Punjab. A group of civil society activists, including retired soldiers, had publicly requested him to enter politics. Diljit quickly responded and turned down the appeal. He took to X and wrote, “Kadey v Nhi..Mera Kam Entertainment Karna. (Never. My job is to entertain) Am Very Happy in My Field. Thank You So Much.”

Diljit’s next film ‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’ set to release on June 12

On the work front, Diljit was last seen in ‘Border 2’, which performed well at the box office. His upcoming project is Imtiaz Ali’s ‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’, set to release on June 12, 2026. The film boasts a strong cast, with Sharvari, Naseeruddin Shah, and Vedang Raina also playing key roles.
