'Idli Kadai' box office collections day 2: Dhanush’s film stays strong; Crosses Rs 20 crores mark

Dhanush’s debut as both director and lead in ‘Idli Kadai’ has kicked off with a bang, raking in over Rs 21 crore net in India in just two days. The film impressed with a hearty Day 2 collection of Rs 10 crore, following a robust Rs 11 crore on its opening day.

Dhanush’s directorial and acting venture ‘Idli Kadai’ is off to a promising start at the box office.Reportedly the film has managed to cross the Rs 20 crore mark within just two days of its release.According to early estimates reported by the Sacnilk website, the film collected around Rs 10 crore on Day 2 (Thursday). Now the total is standing at Rs 21 crore India net across all languages.The film had already impressed on its opening day with Rs 11 crore, including Rs 10.35 crore from Tamil Nadu alone.

Occupancy holds well in Tamil Nadu

The film enjoyed a healthy overall Tamil occupancy of 59.87% on Thursday, October 2. Morning shows started modestly at 34.98%, but the film picked up momentum through the day, with afternoon shows touching 70.02% and evening shows holding steady at 69.21%. Night shows too maintained strength at 65.26%.In the Telugu-speaking regions, ‘Idli Kadai’ saw a more modest reception, with an average occupancy of 23.13%. Morning shows were at 11.10%, while the trend improved in the evening and night slots, where occupancy crossed 28%.

Directed by Dhanush himself, ‘Idli Kadai’ features an ensemble cast including Nithya Menen, Arun Vijay, Sathyaraj, Shalini Pandey, and veteran actor Rajkiran in pivotal roles.
