How the security is being handled at Oscars 2026

Oscars 2026 security: Rooftop snipers, AI surveillance and anti-drone units protect the Dolby Theatre - Reports

Oscars 2026 security is unprecedented, with extensive barricades, over 1,000 law enforcement officials, SWAT teams, and rooftop snipers. The FBI is leveraging AI surveillance for enhanced safety. Executive producer Raj Kapoor emphasized a collaborative effort with law enforcement to ensure everyone feels protected and welcome, highlighting meticulous planning for the event’s smooth operation.

While award shows often have high-end security, this time around, the Oscars will be one of the most protected events. With the Iran war and other world issues ongoing, security has been amped up to another level at this year’s award ceremony. Read on to know more about what is being done to ensure the safety of all of the guests at Oscars 2026.

Safety measures taken at the Oscars 2026

As per reports shared by The Hollywood Reporter, first, there will be multitudes of barricades and metal fencing lining Hollywood Boulevard in LA, where the event is set to take place. The barricades and fencing were set up around March 5 and will remain until March 18, heavily affecting traffic flow in the area. Security is spread across a 1-mile radius around the venue. Additionally, more than 1,000 law enforcement officials have been deployed in the area to monitor everything. SWAT teams have been stationed at nearby buildings, and thorough checking is reportedly conducted on all vehicles passing through the area. Rooftop snipers will also be positioned around the venue at the Dolby Theatre to manage any sudden threats. The FBI, according to reports, will thoroughly manage the event and use artificial intelligence surveillance to maximise security in the area.

In addition to all this, Raj Kapoor, one of the executive producers of the Oscars, attended a press conference on March 11 to explain the procedures. He stated as per reports, that “Every year, we monitor what’s going on in the world. We have the support of the FBI and the LAPD, and it’s a close collaboration. This show has to run like clockwork. But we want everybody – attendees, viewers, even fans standing outside the barricades – to feel safe, protected and welcome.”
