Gerard Butler to star in a new action movie ‘The Nest’; Here’s all you need to know

Gerard Butler is all set to take on his next big role. The famed actor, who is best known for his work in ‘300’, ‘Olympus has Fallen’, and ‘P.S. I Love You’, has been confirmed to lead an upcoming action-packed thriller. He will be playing the role of an expert marksman in the upcoming film.

Gerard Butler to star as lead in ‘The Nest’

The Sun reported that the Scottish actor and film producer has been confirmed to lead an upcoming action film titled ‘The Nest.’ The project has been valued at EUR 60 million and has been officially announced as a part of the Cannes film market. It is being called one of the most “ambitious” projects of the year, as per the reports. Along with leading the film as an actor, Butler is also reportedly dabbling in producing the film as well.The production for the upcoming film is set to start early next year and is currently in the process of development and pre-production. The storyline has been written by Aaron Benjamin and is reportedly inspired by the real-life stories of actual operatives in the field.

What is the premise of ‘The Nest’?

The premise of the upcoming thriller film is set around the life of an expert marksman, to be played by Butler, who receives a threat through an anonymous radio show during a match at the tournament. He is then faced with the dilemma of saving his own family members, along with around 70,000 people, all packed into a stadium, from a massive attack set on to kill everyone in the vicinity.

He is another household name in the action and thriller genre, though he has diversly also starred in romance dramas, as well as comedies over the course of his career. Some of his best known work includes ‘Olympus Has Fallen’, ‘Angel Has Fallen’, ‘The Ugly Truth’, ‘Last Seen Alive’, ‘How To Train Your Dragon’, and many others.On the work front, he was last seen in the OTT post-apocalyptic film, ‘Greenland 2: Migration.’
