Dr. Hook frontman Dennis Locorrier passes away at 76 after a long battle with kidney disease

Dennis Locorriere, the renowned voice of the band Dr. Hook, passed away at the age of 76 on Saturday, May 16, 2026. After fighting a long and courageous battle with a kidney disease, the musician took his last breath while being surrounded by beloved family and friends.

Official statement on Dennis Locorrier’s demise

Locorriere used to perform alongside Ray Sawyer, who passed away in 2019. “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dennis Locorriere, who, after a long and courageous battle with kidney disease, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on May 16, 2026,” the management released an official statement on their website. They added that the late singer fought his illness with remarkable strength, dignity, and resilience throughout. Thanking fans for their support and asking for privacy from the public during the mournful period, the statement said, “He will be remembered for his warmth, love, and the lasting impact he had on those around him.”

About Dennis Locorriere

Born on June 13, 1949, Dennis Michael Locorriere was born in New Jersey and lived in the United Kingdom for 24 years. He was a part of the band Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show until 1975. Dedicating over six decades to music, Locorrier released 18 albums in total as a part of his solo career as well as the band. Not only did he chart on the record-breaking lists, but he also collaborated with numerous artists, leaving an indelible mark on the music industry.
