Donal Bisht reveals she auditioned for Surpanakha in Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana via Mukesh Chhabra. “Never imagined,” she said, feeling blessed for the call. Cast: Ranbir (Ram), Sai Pallavi (Sita), Yash (Ravana). Part 1 releases Diwali 2026 worldwide; editing done, VFX underway.

Donal Bisht, known from Bigg Boss 15, shocked fans by disclosing her audition for the Shurpanakha role in ‘Ramayana’ alongside Ranbir Kapoor. She couldn’t believe it when top casting director Mukesh Chhabra reached out directly for Nitesh Tiwari’s epic project.

Donal Bisht’s reaction

As per News18, recalling her reaction, Donal shared, “I never imagined in my life that someone would even call me to audition for Shurpanakha.” The actress added that she was told the production house was holding very limited auditions and had specifically requested her to test for the character. Reflecting on the moment, Donal expressed deep gratitude for the opportunity. In her words, “I feel very fortunate that I got a call for one of the biggest films, and I feel blessed that people there are noticing my work and seeing that I can be a potential person for such roles.”

‘Ramayana’ cast

In the magnum opus ‘Ramayana,’ Ranbir Kapoor stars as Ram, while Sai Pallavi plays Sita. ‘KGF’ fame Yash steps into Ravana’s role. Sunny Deol and Ravi Dubey portray Hanuman and Laxman, respectively. Meanwhile, Kajal Aggarwal and Rakul Preet Singh play Mandodari and Shurpanakha. The cast also includes Arun Govil, Kunal Kapoor, Adinath Kothare, Sheeba Chaddha, and Indira Krishnan.

‘Ramayana’ production update

As per the report, the makers have already completed editing the first installment of the film. In October 2025, Pinkvilla reported that the ‘Ramayana’ team is now focusing on VFX work, dedicating the next 300 days to it. Producer Namit Malhotra and his team plan to lock the final cut of ‘Ramayana: Part One’ by summer 2026, clearing the way for a Diwali theatrical release.
